DETAILS MAKE OUR WINE SIMPLY UNIQUE

Harvesting at Cantina Canaio Cortona - Arezzo - Tuscan wines

Half-hidden between two valleys, in the area that is called "il chiuso di Cortona", which is a small range of hills with smooth slopes that are particularly suitable for growing vines, Cantina Canaio is located at 320 m AMSL.

This altitude protects the vineyards from November and springtime fog. During the winter the hills protect our land from cold winds, whereas in the summer its favourable exposure guarantees a constant solar radiation, which is essential for a balanced ripening of grapes.

Our wine is the perfect expression of the terroir from which it comes. The climate, the soil composition and, last but not least, our work provide ideal conditions for our vineyards and consequently our wines to express themselves at their best.

Grape Harvest

THE RIGHT MOMENT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

We strongly believe that to make great wines you have to start, apart from a meticulous work in the vineyard throughout the year, from choosing the right moment to harvest.

A couple of days more or less, according to the weather conditions of the year, can make the difference.

That is why the weeks preceding the harvest are characterised by a careful observation of our vineyards, a meticulous tasting of grapes, sampling and testing that can give us an idea of the moment in which grapes express their best aromatic potential and develop rich tannins while keeping freshness and brightness.
