We proudly produce 100% Syrah and 100% Merlot wines. The area around Cortona offers the ideal terroir for these two international varieties, allowing the grapes to express themselves fully while also offering, with every sip, the remarkable taste of Tuscany.
We cannot say that our wines taste better than the others. Neither can we say that they are like the others. We can certainly say that every wine of Cantina Canaio expresses its uniqueness through the marvel of its cosy and personal character. Because every wine has its own story, but every story must be accompanied by the right wine.
This 100% Syrah rosé produced in Tuscany from white vinification is pale pink in color and offers a fresh flavors and just the right percentages of acidity and minerality. This wine seeks to homage (through the name) to our "cousins" in Provence, as they also use this international grape. White vinification with soft pressing.
This delightful, young red is made with a blend of Syrah and Merlot grapes harvested in our vineyards in Farneta-Cortona. We like to call this our "merenda" wine (with the Italian word referring to a light afternoon meal or pick-me-up before a later dinner) thanks to its body and its moderate alcohol content (12.5°) which make it the perfect accompaniment to light meals. We suggest serving it chilled at 12/13° to fully enjoy its freshness.

100% Syrah, it is the result of an early harvest that enhances grapes and the spicy notes of this wine. It is easy to understand and is aged in steel tanks. It offers an immediate impact on our world, a pure expression of the grapes that grow and ripe in our terroir.
100% Syrah. This is a more complex and structured wine. Grapes are left longer to ripe on the vines in order to increase their concentration. Fermentation and maceration on skins take longer and prepare the wines to be aged in wood barrels. Terra Solla is the result of a blend of the best Syrah wine of the vintage that is left resting in French oak tonneaux.
This 100% Syrah is crafted from a careful selection of grapes that grow on the inner vineyard of Villa Passerini in Cortona. The wine fully reflects everything the name Passerini means in our area: prestige, elegance and nobility. Decisive and silky, this elegant and persistent cru promises great longevity and perspective. There’s no question that this wine will age well.
The production of this wine is very limited, only 1300 bottles per year. 100% Merlot. It comes from a single parcel of the estate that is cultivated with this grape variety. A wise and careful control of production is made to contain the excessive growth of this grape variety. The fruits are very concentrated but balanced and over time they create an unconventional expression of Merlot.
